Smith in Tyrone

Post by jasmi »

Looking for the family of James Smith, born 1830, baptized Jan 1830 in Tyrone. His parents were James Smith, shoemaker, and Margaret Evans, there is also a sister Isabella, born abt 1835. They were Presbyterians and I've had no luck so far with online record searches. Would searching individual parish records offer anything different?

Thanks for any advice.

Not all Presbyterian records are on-line. The most complete sets are held by PRONI in Belfast and by the Presbyterian Historical Society (also in Belfast). A personal visit is required to view them. If you donÔÇÖt know where in Tyrone the family lived. ThatÔÇÖs quite a lot of sets of records to check. In addition not every church has records back to the 1830s so there are no guarantees youÔÇÖll find them.
