BISHOP'S TRANSCRIPTS In 1598 incumbents were instructed to send copies, annually, of the entries in their parish registers, within a month after Easter. Inattention & indifference to this order, and incompetence of incumbents meant that the Transcripts are sometimes poor alternatives to the parish registers. Researchers should enquire at the Diocesan Office or the County Record Office.
